March 2004 - Pictures & News
Seth Whigham:

8.5 lbs, 21.5 in.

Born 3/18/2004 at 5:30PM

March 30, 2004 He's starting to try to smile and laugh - it is soooo cute! I tried to get a few pictures of him trying but I'm not sure they came out so well...
March 29, 2004 Shhhh - he's asleep...

Seth had some visitors this weekend: his TG, Papa Bear, Godmother, and Aunt and Uncle. He was such a good baby - he slept a lot, stayed a wake a little, but he kept getting hungry so his MOm had to feed him. He ended up being gone for much of the time since he would get cranky or hungry. So cute though!

PS - He had his first doctor appointment last Friday and he's A-OK. He measured in the 75th percentile for infants for weight and in the 95th percentile for infants for his height.
March 24, 2004 We finally had a "rough" night with little Seth last night. I had soccer practice at 8:30-10:00 and, when I got finished, I called Susan to check on the two of them. She was all upset; she said that little Seth wouldn't stay asleep unless he was in her arms, that when she changed his diaper she accidently hit his belly button and it started bleeding a little, and that he was just crying non-stop. I got home to see how they were and, just as Susan said, you couldn't put him down to sleep.

This went on for about an hour. I suggested that we feed him a bottle of formula since he was seemingly hungry. We started feeding him a bottle at 11:50 and, by 12:00, not only was he asleep; he was limp! He had just cried so hard and so long that he was exhausted. I'm telling you - he doesn't just cry needlessly; when he cries, he has a good reason (he was hungry).

Other than that, not much new. His janudice is all gone now after soon good time in front of a sunny window (the "cure"). He looks perfect!
March 22, 2004 So little Seth is doing great - he sleeps when he should and cries only when wet or hungry. He's sleeping about 3 hours at a time followed by feeding with Mommy, then he has a little playtime till its back to sleep. I will tell you that the little man is a verocious eater; he eats almost double what "they" told us to expect. Of course, he's a little bigger than the average baby so maybe that's why... He reminds me of Vince(for those of you who remember how Vince could eat) - a bottomless pit!

Now that I have a little more time, I'll tell you more about him:
  • He has some hair - not much though but enough so that he is certainly not bald. Its blonde-ish, red-dish and looks like it might be fine like Susan's. Its still too early to really tell yet though.
  • Perfect color skin - not too pale, not too dark. He is a little jaundiced now but this is normal for babies under one week old
  • His eyes are a smokey grey-blue. In the hospital we thought they were a hazel-blue but, after seeing him in other light, they are a very dark blue - almost a gray. They are very pretty although he mostly sleeps right now...
  • You almost can't wake the boy! He just *loves* to sleep - he even falls asleep while eating all the time and his Momma has to wake him. He doesn't mind people talking, the dishes being done, the radio on - whatever... He's just a very relaxed, go-with-the-flow baby.
  • Susan and people who see him in person think he looks more like me than Susan. Susan says he looks just like me (Scott). In fact, there's a picture of me when I was first born and its tough to tell the two apart! He definitely has my nose but, if you ask me, he has his mother's eyes.
March 20, 2004 We're home! Seth came home today at 11:00. Aunt Jill & Uncle Justin are here too!!! Susan is doing so great - she might even run a half marathon tomorrow! hehe
March 18 - 5:30PM- Seth Miller Whigham arrived at 5:30PM after an easy delivery. He's a beautiful baby boy, weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and is 21.5 inches long. More later... Gotta get back to the hospital to take care of Susu.
March 18 - 6:51AM- We're headed to the hospital...
March 16, 2004 - We went to the doctor yesterday (only five more days till the day date!) for a sonogram and checkup. The baby measured 8 pounds, 12 ounces on the first measurement and, on a more conservative measurement, 8 pounds, 6 ounces. These numbers are terribly inaccurate however; they only say that the baby is within a pound either way (could be a 9lb, 6oz baby or a 7lb., 6oz baby, or anywhere in between).
March 12, 2004 - Susan is doing great - and thankfully little Seth decided not to come this week while Scott was in NY! Susan went to the doctor twice this week for checkups; the baby hasn't dropped yet so it won't be until next week at the earliest. She's still getting bigger! I feel for her - she's ready for Seth to be out and ready to see him.
March 6, 2004 - The 38th week is here! Susan has been having litte, tiny contractions and every once in a while she'll get a stronger one. The baby is moving into position. I feel for her - she is so uncomfortable now :(
March 1, 2004 - Wow - the 9th month... So close now...
Baby Pool - Congratulations to R.E. Branch from Dallas - our winner!
The Latest...

He's here - Seth Miller Whigham was born Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 5:30PM at the Medical Center of Plano in Plano, TX. He measured 21.5 inches and 8.5 pounds. He's perfect too - a fat little baby with big ol' feet and bones...

Week 39! - Seth still hasn't dropped...

Week 38! - Bags are packed, room is ready - we're ready to see little Seth!

Week 37! - He could come any time now really, couldn't he? Susan told me this morning that she thinks he won't be too big - somewhere around 7 pounds is her guess. I'm still going with the 8 pounds, 4 ounces and 22 1/2 inches :)

Baby Shower News - We will not be going back to Mississippi until April at the earliest so a baby shower post-natal is likely going to happen. If you have some ideas of what we'll need before then, just email us!
